Phase One consisted of remodeling our basement into usable space for shelter. Previously it was used for storage of donated household items and overflow of supplies for our clients.
K Construction was the general contractor for this project. We created two secured wings in the basement, each with the capacity to hold 10 individual adults (one wing for men and one for women). We also added a separate entrance and re-designed the client laundry area.
Construction was officially completed in February 2022, and doors opened for use on February 28, 2022.
Progression of West Stairwell Addition
In order to provide a smooth entrance/exit for our clients using NBN shelter, we needed to create a separate entrance. We added what we call "the Vestibule" on the west side of our building in the alley. This space is used to perform intakes for all NBN clients, and is the main exit/entrance for NBN use.

Progression of Upstairs Laundry Room
The entrance to "Room 4", which is a family room, was previously inside of the stairwell to the basement. This would not work with the future plans for NBN, so we needed to re-work the layout. Our contractor framed out a new entrance to Room 4 inside of the client laundry room. While this reduced some space in the laundry room, we simply removed the un-used shower which provided ample space for the new entryway.
